The Catalyst Project

In January 2019, THROW launched a major trade show up-cycling project, the first of many to come. Working with international textile show TexWorld USA, held in New York City, THROW turned 2,600 square feet of vinyl banners from the previous show into VIP and press bags. The resulting video “Banners to Bags—A Commitment to Sustainability” (accessed by a QR code in each bag’s label) highlights the manufacturing process and simplifies the complex supply network involved in this exceptional project.

The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the project was proof of concept for THROW’S continuous mission. Show attendees didn’t just carry their bags during the show but continue to flaunt them proudly today. Up-cycling with a desirable aesthetic is the key to success, giving once disregarded materials a new life with fashion appeal.
