NEW YORK PET FASHION SHOW 2020 #BannersToBarkers

Upcycled Trade Show Banners by THROW

Fortunately, we live in a time when the collective consciousness about our loved ones, regardless of the number of legs they have, is gaining momentum and groundswell. Simultaneously there is an awareness of the cause-and-effect that our actions have on the ones we love and the planet we cohabitate. It is with this DNA, the driving force behind THROW and their designs, that #BannersToBarkers is born.

Fashion, the bastard stepchild of Style, is finally coming to terms with use and reuse now that style and creativity have come home to roost.

STYLE #1 - The Model’s Plastic Bag Puffer Coat. From a far, a stylish puffer in an explosion of floral colors against a midnight sky. On closer examination a SOLUTION to the Plastic Bag Problem that plagues our cities, beaches, countryside and the depths of our oceans. In NYC where 40,000 plastic bags are used per minute, Plastic Bags, here take the place of insulation. Ever-ready for that Pet Walk Pick-up, the Plastic Bag Puffer Coat.

STYLE #2 -
The Dog’s Plastic Bag Puffer Coat. A matching and coordinating set for Dog and Walker. Who says Dogs can’t be sustainably minded?

STYLE #3 –
The Flurry Walking Leash made from Up-cycled and Excess Swimwear Factory Cuttings. This Leash was once, in a previous life, Bikini straps and ties and is now a flurry of color, a modern-day fringe of pom-pom awaiting the next wind or walk just to come alive.

STYLE #4 –
The Dog Bag / Pet Carrier is Re-Imagined and Up-cycled as a sustainability minded transportation device. This carrier was once a vinyl Javits trade show banner. No two pieces are alike, each unique due to its placement within the artwork of a trade show banner once deemed useless is now as unique as the relationship between Pet and Partner.
